The Christmas Season is in full swing. It seems decorations came out even sooner than usual. On Thanksgiving many of my neighbors (me included) were already decorating their yard. I think people are understandably desperate to feel a sense of normalcy and joy that the holidays bring.
When it comes to holiday cheer and decorations, Disney does it best! Did you know that Cast Members use up to 7,410 feet of ribbon to make 812 bows? That works out to be 1.4 miles of ribbon!
Or that it takes 150 semi-truck trailers to haul away all of the decorations?! A team of 10 Cast Members work exclusively on the décor for an entire year! Let’s take a look at each park to see what special magic they create!
Magic Kingdom Fast Facts
The tree located in the Town Square of Mainstreet, U.S.A. is 65 feet tall, has 5,400 LED lights, 2,365 ornaments, weighs 16.5 tons and is topped with a 2 foot star.
It usually takes 7 to 8 weeks to decorate Cinderella Castle with over 350,000 lights. Sadly, this year they did not decorate for Castle Dream Lights.
There are 40 trees and 147 wreaths on display throughout the park.
It takes two nights to decorate for Christmas. Park employees begin decorating after the last Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on October 31st. Below you can watch a time lapse videos of the decorations going up. If you have not seen them, they are very cool to watch!
Epcot Fast Facts
On average, the Candlelight Processional is performed 117 times throughout November and December. There are more than 800 performers, including 200 guest choirs.
Most flower beds are replanted with gorgeous poinsettia plants.
Each pavilion decorates and offers themed food and drinks.
Living With the Land has a holiday transformation with lights, wreaths made of vegetables, and large ornaments.
Hollywood Studios Fast Facts
There are 12 high definition projectors used to transform the Tower of Terror into The Hollywood Toy Hotel.
There are 21 palm trees, each with programmable color changing LED lights
The Santa hat on Gertie the Dinosaur’s head is so big, it can fit four grown adults inside!
Animal Kingdom Fast Facts
There are 331 garland and 40 wreaths placed around the park.
Over 25,000 LED lights and 40,000 mini LED lights are used throughout the park.
Animal Kingdom’s Christmas parade uses flotillas on the water!
The animals in the park are given special holiday themed enrichment treats.
Disney Springs Fast Facts
Disney Springs features over 2,000 individual décor, each uniquely designed to match the classic Florida theme.
The Tree Trail features over 25 uniquely themed trees
