Have you ever wanted to be a hero and defeat the Disney Villains? With Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, you have a chance to go up against Hades and a group of Disney Villains who are trying to take over Magic Kingdom.
Hades is tired of the underworld and wants to make Magic Kingdom his summer home. Help Merlin the Magician by using spell cards to stop Hades and his Villain crew! Guests of all ages can participate in this FREE interactive scavenger hunt during their trip to Magic Kingdom. (Yes, FREE, it is included with your park admission!) Just visit the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A. to sign up and receive your Sorcerer Key Card, Merlin’s mystical map and spell cards. When you visit the Firehouse, Cast Members will make sure you are ready for the responsibility of being an Apprentice Sorcerer for the day. You will get instructions and learn how to use the Sorcerer Key and cast spells using the cards. Each card pack includes 5 spell cards which you use when you visit the secret locations. Guests are only able to get one pack of cards each visit. The cards are numbered 1-70; however the special spell cards 61 – 70 are only available in “bonus packs”, which can be purchased at various locations in the park. There are even limited special event cards that come out during special park events! This game is something that guests can do on their own time; there is not a set time limit or mandatory completion and you can pick up where you left off when you come back to the park the next time; just keep hold of your Sorcerer’s key. Typically missions last 20-30 minutes depending on degree of difficulty. As you are walking from each land, follow the map and look for the designated portals to see the animated Villains take the screen, choose your cards and cast your spells!
My family loves scavenger hunts and Geocacheing; we were thrilled to discover Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and so excited to try something new! Like many others, we didn’t even know that this existed. Most often people head straight for the castle and don’t even realize the little treasures right at the beginning of Main Street! As a parent, it is so fun to watch my children learn to follow a map (since this skill is not used very often) and to see them work together to decide which cards they would use to beat the villain. As an Apprentice Sorcerer myself, I felt like a little kid again; it really is a fun adventure for all ages! You never know which villain you will see next.
I recommend this to any guest to try at least once! It is a great thing to do in between rides and it even helps to get the kids to walk to the next land! If you’re a season passholder and frequent the parks often it’s perfect for you too. This really gives all guests a unique experience that will be different every time you visit the park. For those players who really take games seriously, there are various levels of difficulty and strategies used to beat the Villains. The overall objective is to win the battle at the first or second portal, as the fewer portals visited, the higher the overall rating of the player’s “Master Sorcerer” level at the end of the game. Who is up for the challenge on their next trip to Magic Kingdom!? I know we are! Are you ready to be an Apprentice Sorcerer? ❤️Sarah
