Tom Sawyer Island is often overlooked by many, which is a shame because it is the perfect place to relax and let the kids go bananas without worrying about the crowds. There are lovely walking paths, a fort & cave to explore, and an awesome barrel bridge. I literally will run back and forth on it and I am in my late thirties
Back in the day, Cast Members would hide several of “Tom’s” paint brushes around the island for guests to find. Once found and turned in, the guest and their family would receive a bonus FASTPass for Splash Mountain or Thunder Mountain!
They ended the scavenger hunt back in 2013, most likely due to the switch to FastPass+. Then as quickly as it went away, it unexpectedly returned in January of 2020, with some adjustments. Cast Members would still hide a paint brush but instead of a FastPass, the lucky guest would receive an adorable certificate.
Since Covid, Tom Sawyer Island has had limited activities, and the scavenger hunt has yet to return. Hopefully, as things turn back to “normal”, guests will soon be able to hunt for the paintbrushes again. You just never know when, so make sure next time you are there to keep an eye out!
