I say it just about everyday- I WANT TO LIVE AT DISNEY! Well, turns out I can. I just need several million, no biggie .
Let me introduce, Golden Oak at Walt Disney World!
It is located a hop, skip, and a jump away from The Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.
Golden Oak is first and foremost a luxury community. That means clubhouse, membership benefits, golf courses, customizable homes…some of their house plans offer golf cart storage…so yeah, luxury is putting it mildly.
Truth be told, these types of communities can be found pretty much anywhere. What makes Golden Oak so special? It has the DISNEY TOUCH!
Character sculptures can be found along sidewalks, paths, and footbridges, as well as customizable designs in the homes.
Names of some of the neighborhoods and streets also pay homage to Disney roots.
- Symphony Grove is inspired by Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies.
- Kimball Trace is named after Ward Kimball, an animator known as one of Disney’s Nine Old Men. He had a shared love of railroads and often consulted with Imagineering in different park projects.
- Marceline is named after the beloved hometown of Walt. Marceline, Missouri is also the inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A.
- Blaine Court is named after Imagineer and Sculptor, Blaine Gibson. He is the gifted artist behind the “Partners” statue of Walt and Mickey holding hands as well as Roy O. Disney and Minnie sitting on a park bench.
Club Members have access to Extra Magic Hours in the parks, free merchandise delivery, preregistration bookings for Disney marathons, access to the ESPN track & fields, golf course discount rates, as well as access to the DVC lounges at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary and the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot. Members are also invited to various special events at parks with discount/activity services and have access to transportation across the resort area.
Golden Oak is made up of 7 distinct neighborhoods & has a partnership with the Four Seasons (the Four Seasons residences are worthy of their own post!):
The neighborhoods center around the styles of Old Florida, Caribbean, and European with nature preserves and lush landscapes. Each neighborhood has a community park or playground.
The Golden Oak website is a bit tricky. It does not show specific photos from each neighborhood, rather from “estate-sized homes” located throughout the community. Unless there is a specific home for sale, pictures and floor plans are vague.
Symphony Grove
Houses sit on approximately .25 acres and range from 3,600 – 4,900 sq ft.
There are four houses for sale right now in Golden Oak, one of them is located in Symphony Grove!
The Cottages Located in Symphony Grove
These “cozy” cottages sit on approximately 1/5th of an acre and range from 1,800 – 3,800 sq ft.
There are currently no homes for sale in this neighborhood, but here are some more pics of the community!
Kimball Trace
These Tuscan inspired homes sit on approximately .25 acres and range from 3,000 – 5,000 sq. ft.
Marceline
Host of two community parks, Marceline homes sit on approximately .25 acres and range from 3,100 – 6,000 sq ft.
Kingswell
These homes sit on half an acre and range from 5,000 – 7,000 sq ft.
There are currently no homes for sale in this neighborhood, but here are some more pics of the community!
Silverbrook
Over a bridge and through the conservation area, to Silverbrook we go! These homes sit on half an acre and range from 5,000 – 7,000 sq ft.
There are currently no homes for sale in this neighborhood, but here are some more pics, because these houses and patios are stunning!
Carolwood
Now we’ve made it to the cream of the crop. These homes sit on the largest amount of land at 3/4 of an acre and range from 6,500 – 12,000 sq ft. They also come with golf course views.
Summerhouse
The Golden Oak club house has many amenities; business office, pool, gym, group fitness classes (yoga, Pilates, spin, walking groups), kid & teen programs. It is also home to three restaurants; Boltons (“casual” dining), Markhams (dining experiences/events), and Tyler’s Lounge (open on select dates). By the way, they have their own garden and receive many of the other vegetables from The Land greenhouse in Epcot!
That’s not all folks! When you become a member, a whole world of opportunity is open up to you. Culinary demonstrations, holiday themed dinners, beverage seminars & tastings, and Disney designed experiences from Club Member Services. Reservations at the Grand Floridian Spa? They got you covered! A private adventure at The Tower of Terror?! Sure, why not! Want to bring in the New Year with a dessert party while watching Fantasmic!? They can handle it.
Life at Golden Oak is certainly a fairy tale! Life on Walt Disney World Resort property is about as close as we can hope to get to living IN Cinderella Castle. If money wasn’t a question, would you live here? Let us know what you think!
