The Tree of Life stands as Animal Kingdom’s “weenie” or centerpiece. It stands at 145ft tall with a 50 ft base width.

The drop is only 25 feet in height! Compared to Splash Mountain’s 49-foot drop, the circular raft strategically moves people into gallons of flowing water.

These Broadway style shows bring the Lion King and Finding Nemo to life in unique ways. With moving music, puppetry, colorful sets, and amazing stunts/acrobatics; they are both a must see! 

In the original plan for the park, there was to be a land filled with mythical creatures, such as dragons, etc. While they put a representation of this land on their logo, it never panned out in the final rendering of the park construction. It is cool to see a reminder of what could have been and how things can change!

These trees made of concrete, store animal feed & horticultural equipment. Some even act as lazy susan, rotating to feed giraffes. The only real Baobab Tree can be found outside of the Tusker House restaurant.

Disney's Animal Kingdom planted foliage from six different continents. The only continent to not be represented...Antarctica! The first tree planted on site came from seeds acquired in Africa. 

When Animal Kingdom first opened in 1998, guests were skeptical about spending a substantial amount of money at a zoo, so in 2001, Disney conceived a new tourism campaign and Nahtazu (not a zoo) was born! This is the idea that this park is many things, but it is not a zoo. While the park’s theme is centralized around animals and nature, it truly is so much more. It is an experienced that brings forth culture, food, entertainment, shopping, attractions, and yes, animals.

The Animal Nutrition Center at Disney's AK cares for more than 3,000 animals. They create over 1,000 different diets daily for the insect eaters, plant eaters, meat eaters, and omnivores (both). While the fruits and vegetables are from the same high quality sold in Disney restaurants, Disney keeps the worms off the restaurant menu and saves them for the animals that need it most! 

100,000 trees were planted during construction of the park. They also have the largest collection of African plants outside of the continent of Africa.

At 25 ft tall and 10,000 lbs, the Yeti from Expedition Everest is the largest audio-animatronic® that Disney has created. Unfortunately, he has been out of commission since 2008. Imagineers had to shut him off as his movement had become too dangerous for the coaster’s structure.
